星體的擢升（exaltation）是依照以下方法分配的。對於晝行星（diurnal planets）而言，會選擇那些在本質上與各行星相互親和，且與其所主宰的星座形成三分相的星座。
以太陽為例，由於太陽主宰獅子座，因此它會在牡羊座擢升，因為牡羊座既是四足星座，也與獅子座形成三分相。太陽擢升的精確度數是牡羊座19度。
由於土星的本屬星座是水瓶座，因此土星在天秤座約20度的位置擢升。主宰雙魚座的木星則在巨蟹座15度擢升。
由於夜行星（nocturnal planets）屬於月亮的派別，而月亮所發出的光芒比太陽微弱，因此夜行星會在與自身所主宰的星座形成六分相的星座中擢升。
例如，月亮在與其所主宰的巨蟹座形成六分相的金牛座擢升，位置接近金牛座3度。火星在與天蠍座形成六分相的摩羯座28度擢升。金星則在雙魚座26度擢升，因為雙魚座與金牛座形成六分相。
水星在其自身所主宰的處女座15度擢升。這是因為水星是一顆同時屬於兩個派別的行星，也因為它經常落下，使得它所發出的光芒較為黯淡。
與行星擢升位置相對的星座，便是行星的落陷（fall）之處，也就是行星力量最為薄弱的位置。
The exaltations of the stars have been assigned by the subsequent method. For the diurnal planets, the signs that are sympathetic by nature and trine to each planet have been used. In the case of the sun, for example, since it rules the sign of Leo, it will be exalted in the sign of Aries, which is both a four-footed sign and is in a trine relationship to the sign of Leo. The exact degree of exaltation for the sun is 19 degrees of Aries. Since the natural sign of Saturn is Aquarius, Saturn will be exalted at around 20 degrees of Libra. Jupiter, which rules Pisces, will be exalted at 15 Cancer. Inasmuch as they belong to the sect of the moon, which emits weaker beams than the sun, the nocturnal planets are exalted in the signs sextile to their own signs. For instance, the moon is exalted in the sign sextile to her own sign of Cancer, close to three degrees of Taurus. Mars is exalted in the sign sextile to Scorpio at 28 Capricorn. Venus is exalted at 26 Pisces, which is in the sign sextile to Taurus. Mercury is exalted in its own sign of Virgo at 15 degrees. This is the case because Mercury is a planet shared between the sects, and also because its rays are more dim on account of it very often making settings. The signs opposite to the exaltations happen to be the fall of the planets, or the places in which the planets have the weakest power.
